The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest invites you to another weekend full of many activities for both young and old ones. The activities will be implemented in the facilities of the Museum in Sigri and in the open-air Plaka Petrified Forest Park.

Saturday 10 July at 11 am.

Educational Activity “Geologic Time Scale and the Lesvos Petrified Forest”

The Educational Activity is an adventure and a game in time and space. Children are asked to look for findings that give us information about the changes of the seasons, to travel in geological time, to get to know plants and animals that lived millions of years ago and to discover unique information about the environment in which they lived.

Saturday 10 July at 6.30 pm.

Afternoon guided tour at the Plaka Petrified Forest Park

Plaka Park is located 800 meters south of the settlement of Sigri and is an important protected fossil bearing site. It consists of two sections, the coastal and the land, in which the research works of the Museum have revealed important plant fossils.

Sunday 4 July, at 11 am.

New Educational Progam “Land Art”

Our young friends will have the opportunity to get to know the Land Art, an art movement which is about creation in nature, where earth and art are inextricably linked. After a brief introduction to Land Art and the display of some works of art, they will create their own works of art with natural elements of the Lesbian environment, such as leaves, branches, soil, stones.
