New Duration of the exhibition:10th July 2021 to 30th April 2022.

The great interest and the high attendance of the exhibition “Understanding Climate Change: Explorig the consequences in the geological record. Cenozoic ecosystems and the current threat” that is open in Frankfurt since 10 July 2021, lead to its extension till April 2022! The exhibition opening took place on Saturday 10th July, in the presence of the German Minister Mrs. Angela Dorn and Mrs. Ioanna Kriebardi, Consul of Greece in Frankfurt.

The aim of the exhibition is to introduce to the German public the unique natural Monument of Lesvos, to raise public awareness on climate change and to attract visitors to our island, since the Petrified Forest is one of its most important attractions. The exhibition includes impressive parts of petrified tree trunks, leaves, branches, roots, fruits and volcanic rocks as well as information material about the Lesvos Petrified Forest.

The exhibition is organised by the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in collaboration with the Museum-Visitor’s Center of Messel Pit Fossil Site and the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald, and supported by Ruritage, «Rural regeneration through systemic heritage-led strategies — RURITAGE» HORIZON 2020 Programme.
