Discovering the Lesvos Petrified Forest, a unique natural monument, is an unforgettable experience.
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest is a place of education, knowledge and inspiration. Following the current theory and practices of Museum Education, it designs and implements educational programs for students of all levels of education, children of all ages and families.
The Museum operates the Lesvos Geopark and collaborates with many cultural, educational, research organizations and Museums. It is a founding member of the European and Global Geoparks Network, pioneered in the establishment of the network of the Museums of Lesvos, collaborates with schools and Environmental Education Centers, as well as with a significant number of research centers and universities in the framework of research activities.
The mountain running race Αgiasos trail run took place with so many participants at the area of Agiasos, on Sunday 4th July 2021. The race was co-organized by the Gymnastics Association of Agiasos "OLYMPUS", the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest and the North Aegean Region. It was supported by the Lesvos Runners Association, the Hellenic Rescue Team of Lesvos Branch, the Agiasos Anagnostirio and many volunteers.
The start of the Mountain Running Race was given from the area of Kamboudi Agiasos with two routes of 7km and 21.6km. The athletes after crossing the stunning landscapes and paths of the wider area of Agiasos, the impressive geotopes and the geological monuments of LESVOS UNESCO WORLD GEOPARK finished in Kamboudi, from where they started. They were all impressed by the natural richness of the area, of the athletic event and the people who supported it, the volunteers but also their acquaintance with the local traditional products of Agiasos.
