Educational Programs
In the educational program ‘’Volcanoes and volcanic eruptions in Lesvos’’, the children are invited to travel millions of years ago to the geological past of Lesvos, of the Aegean and of Greece and to become familiar with phenomena and processes that cannot be directly observed, such as the volcanic phenomenon.
Discover the educational activities and games for families and kids, for all the friends of the Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos and the Lesvos Geopark.
In the educational program ‘’Minerals and rocks of Lesvos’’, the children examine minerals and rocks, most of them unknown for their valuable properties and their usefulness in everyday life.
This research expedition of the Young Researchers is dedicated to Climate Change.
In the educational program ‘’ The secrets of sand: Exploring the sand from the beaches of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos’’, the children become explorers, are equipped with the appropriate equipment and with the guidance of the Museum staff, study sand samples from the beaches of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos.
Lesvos, the place that in the distant geological past was covered by dense tropical forests, today is the island of intense contrasts with such a rich biodiversity. Without doubt it deserves the characterization "botanical paradise of the Aegean”.
