Duration: 400 hours
Financing by the Regional Operational Program of the N. Aegean 2000-2006, Metre 1.4.
The 23 young people who participated in the program, traveled to Germany to do a practicum at the Bergstrasse Odenwald Geopark. They also visited the protected Messel region, the mines of iron and manganese of Reichelsheim that functioned from as far back as the 9th century, and a barite mining tunnel, where they worked in real conditions and participated in the process of mineral mining. In Heidelberg, the largest city of the region, the participants visited the Department of Geology at the University and its collection of fossils and minerals found in the area. They also took the opportunity to observe the architecture of the city and its impressive buildings, including the superb medieval castle.
