2006 July - October "Celebrating Earth” Festival, summer cultural events
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organised a rich, varied and exciting program in collaboration with the "Friends of the Petrified Forest" Association and local institutions. The summer cultural events of the Natural History Museum, which occurred on the Museum grounds in Sigri, lasted throughout the summertime.
The events, under the general title "Celebrating Earth", included exhibitions of painting, photography and handicrafts, as well as theatrical presentations, concerts, viewings and happenings.

2006 - May - September - "Plants of Lesvos", Exhibition by Ilia Mefiri
Ilias Mefiris, a close friend of the Museum and the Petrified Forest, presented a very interesting exhibition in the Museum addressing the polychromatic details of the flora of Lesvos. Mefiri photographed the rarest of plants and wildflowers in the most inaccessible regions of  the island. His work goes beyond this however. With absolute respect for nature and over a long time period, Mefiri gathered representative samples of the wealth of plants on Lesvos and made his own plant collection. With the dried samples he composed unique flower compositions. The exhibition was organised by the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in collaboration with the “Friends of the Petrified Forest" Association.
