Getting There

Map of Mytilene

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest is found in the village of Sigri and it can be accessed by bus, car, motorbike etc.

For public transport, the long-distance bus service (KTEL) is available.

From Lesvos there is a daily ferry to Piraeus and Chios and regular trips to the ports of Mirina in Limnos, Thessaloniki and Kavala. Mytilene is also an intermediate port of the outlying island line which connects Alexandroupolis with Rhodes.
In the summer months there are also alternative itineraries to the Cycladic islands. The Chios – Piraeus itinerary is also serviced by high-speed boats which make the trip in about 8 hours.

There are daily flights to Thessaloniki and Athens (flight duration approx. 45 minutes), as well as scheduled flights to Limnos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes and twice a week to Crete.
